What is
Breathwork?
Breathwork is a big term that includes many different types and styles of breathing.
You can breathe to feel more energy. You can breathe for relaxation. You can breathe to release stored stress, tension and trauma from the body. You can use breathing to support many chronic conditions, both physical and mental.
Read through this page to get a better understanding of the types of breathwork that can support you.

Releasing Breathwork /
Breathwork
Transformational
Releasing Breathwork is a somatic healing modality I’ve practiced since 2021 to support clients in moving through emotional blocks, physical tension, and conditioned stress responses. This transformational style of breathwork draws inspiration from the work of Dr. Stanislav Grof, a pioneer in transpersonal psychology, and his development of Holotropic Breathwork in the 1970s.
Rooted in deep, conscious breathing and somatic awareness, Releasing Breathwork invites the body to express what the mind has long held onto. Sessions often involve active breathing patterns that temporarily place the body under controlled stress—what we call superventilation—to help facilitate emotional release, nervous system recalibration, and moments of profound insight.
Clients frequently report powerful shifts: the unburdening of past grief, resolution of old emotional loops, deep physical relaxation, and a re-patterning of how their body responds to stress. Some describe it as clearing energetic debris they didn’t even know they were carrying.
This practice is both cathartic and integrative. It reconnects you with your body’s innate intelligence, restores emotional presence, and builds resilience to stress over time. Each session is an invitation to explore:
— What have you been avoiding feeling?
— What past events still shape your nervous system’s response to life?
— What emotions or states of being do you want to cultivate more of?
During a session, we work with deep breathing, different breath patterns, intentional breath holds, sound, and gentle movement. Releasing Breathwork is practiced laying down, with my guidance and a specific playlist to guide the experience.
